Challenging Carpet Clean At Jesmond Dene House
We’re no strangers to commercial carpet cleaning, and the mould on these hotel carpets at Jesmond Dene House was certainly no match for us!
Newcastle’s only privately owned boutique hotel, Jesmond Dene House hosts several gorgeous private dining rooms and boasts 100% wool carpets in each room. Unfortunately, these bordered carpets had seen their fair share of visitors over the years and had begun to deteriorate after repeated use and various mealtime accidents.
Thankfully, here at Paul Dyson we are experts at commercial carpet cleaning, so when we received the call from Jesmond Dene House, we were happy to take up the challenge.
Refreshing the rooms…
We were booked in to clean their Norman Shaw Breakfast Room, the Fern Dining Room, and the hotel’s reception area. While some of the carpets simply needed a regular deep-clean, other issues such as mould from spilt milk had started growing on the carpets, which meant we had to alter our approach to remove the health hazard.
We started the job by vacuuming the carpets to remove loose dust and dirt and then conditioned the carpets to soften the fibres before gently agitating them and giving them a rinse. This is what is known as a deep-clean extraction, helping to get all those years’ worth of grime out of the fibres and flushed away to leave fresh, clean carpets for the hotel.
After this process, we dried the carpets and began treating the mould with an antimicrobial treatment followed by Chemspec Stainshield Professional. This treatment is well-suited to wool carpets, as using bleach would have damaged them further. The water-based textile protectant used helps the carpets remain cleaner longer and resists stains by repelling oil and water-based soils – perfect for high-footfall areas such as these.
The job was completed in plenty of time for staff to prepare the hotel’s upcoming breakfast and dinner services. A grand job for a grand hotel!
