When Karndean (a manufacturer of luxury vinyl tiles) discovered that a customer’s LVT flooring was registering a slip resistance of R10, they recognised it as a safety hazard and reached out to us to seal the flooring.

Sealing a Slippery Floor
This job was a challenging one as the vinyl tiles measured at 60sqm across the property, spreading over the bottom floor from the front entryway to the rear living room. We got to work immediately and began cleaning the unsafe floor, stripping it of any residual dust or dirt.
You wouldn’t want any grime trapped on your flooring for a long period of time, so once we were certain it had all been washed away, we dried off the LVT floor and began the next step.
Using two coats of PU sealant by Dr Shutz, we made sure to cover every inch of the floor space and ensure even coverage across the tiles. Finally, we cured the PU sealant using UV light so the floor could be walked on straight away, as opposed to waiting 12 hours for it to naturally cure. The job only took one day because of this, so the client was able to enjoy their non-slippery flooring as soon as we were done and packed up.
The PU sealant job comes with a three-year warranty when professionally applied, so the client was happy knowing they could enjoy three guaranteed years of luxury vinyl tiles that are safe to walk on.
